The most common mistake people make when trying to solve erosion problems is targeting remediation toward the damage that has been done rather than the cause of that damage. They treat the symptom but don’t cure the disease.
Only when you understand why a site is changing, can you determine how it is likely to change in the future.
The natural tendency is to generalize problems. But few situations are exactly alike. Even when they appear to be similar there are often subtle differences. Many times it’s the minor variations that have the most impact on both the effectiveness and the longevity of a solution.
